I am interested in cognitive aspects of language in context. How does what we know about language structure interface with the contexts in which language is used? How do we fit together our knowledge of language with contextual information as we process or learn language?
Here are some of the things I do to keep a sense of adventure and perspective - things that no linguist or cognitive scientist should be without.
I teach a number of undergraduate and graduate courses in Linguistics and Cognitive Science. In these classes, students learn about puzzles that preoccupy linguists and cognitive scientists. They also acquire some of the theoretical and experimental tools with which to solve them. A lot of learning happens in the lab too!
